Extended Warranties and Void Getting Scam

Greetings All,

We all have discussed / discovered that the W208 CLK 320/430 has known problems.

I'm researching all extended warranty companies that MB service center will honor.

My car does not have the factory extended Starmark warranty which by far is the best.

Has anyone purchased an aftermarket warranty here and used it? Please list terms and prices..

Are most of these warranty companies just SCAM artist?

Please provide names/ websites of Companies that are good and stand behind there warranty.

Thanks

Bully,

I've asked the same question a few times in the past few months, but got absolutely no response.

My dealership offers extended warranty through WarranTech which they say is even better than Starmark, which they use on their pre-owned cars.

Even though Warrantech is much more pricy than the prices we see on the internet, it should be the least painfull to deal with, since the dealership will take care of everything.

Getting an extended warranty contract for me over the internet with those attractive prices is out of question for me, since I live in California.

Yes I understand......

Here's what Warranty Gold promises.

Below is a list of some of the important
considerations with which you need to evaluate warranty companies:
1: The plan is exclusionary, not listed. That means we'll cover everything on your vehicle EXCEPT about 30 items which we list plainly for you. DO NOT go with a listed plan...they are designed to give loopholes so the companywon't cover your repairs!

2: The plan is Wear and Tear, not Mechanical Break Down. That means we'll fix things BEFORE they break. Mechanical Break Down means the company won't fix ANYTHING until the piece COMPLETELY stops working. This means they say
you'll be without your car in a potentially crisis situation rather than allowing you to take a preventative measure and fix a problematic piece of your car BEFORE it leaves you stranded on the road.
3: The company NEEDS to be in business for at least 8 years or they are not tried and true. There is a "trust reserve account" where all warranty companies should put money so they can pay for your claims. If they haven't done this right then they are bound to go out of business in the first 5 to 8 years. (Warranty Gold is 18 years old.)
4: The company should have a good BBB record. You can check this out by going to www.bbb.org <http://www.bbb.org/> and selecting "check out a company." Then type in the name of the company and their head quarters location. (Warranty Gold is HQ'd in Austin, TX.) The BBB will also tell you the companies "Local Business Start Date." Please don't believe what you read on their sites or what their salesmen tell you. Most warranty companies
have been internet startups and few are older than 6 years. Many have failed and left their customers to find out only when they have their next claim by getting a disconnected number.
Warranty Gold has been in business for 18 years and we have a great BBB report.

You may want to check with warrantybynet.com.

I am going to wait a little longer before I decide on the extended warranty.

Anyone heard of 1SourceAutoWarranty.com ? . I called them at 888-905-5700 and they told me they could sell coverage in California. Quoted me $2499 for coverage up to $100,000 miles for my 98 320.Looks like comprehensive coverage, but not sure if they are for real. What do you think?
