ASR BAS Malfunction

I read through the very informative thread on the w210 forum regarding this very problem. I was just wondering if anyone with a w208 had this problem and fixed it themselves.

Thanks.

I recently purchased a W208 with the orginal battery. The battery finally went below 10 volts. The ASR,BAS, & Anti-lock brake malfunction indicator came on. I replaced the battery but the system never turned itself back on.

The fix took only a $20.00 tip to a local Mercedes mechanic. First turn the vehicle on, Turn the wheel all the way to the right then all the way to the left. I almost felt ripped off but it worked. The mechanic went on to tell me that if I would have taken the vehicle to the dealership they would have charged me the $110.00 hourly rate for this sixty-second fix.

I hope this will be helpful.

Good LUCK!

2003 CLK430 Cabriolet
mine did that several months ago.
when i took it to the dealer it was fixed under warranty. the service invoice said something like "re-set steering pitch and angle" or something complicated-sounding like that. i think it's hilarious that all they did was turn the wheel to the right & to the left.

Ouch talk about a rip.

I just called Downtown L.A. motors and they carry the part for $21.
