2002 Clk320 3.2 HELP

I was driving my 02 clk320 around all day till around night time the car was running rough when I got to a complete stop and hit the gas the lights went dim and the rpm went lower then what they were and the engine popped like it back fired barley made it home with car having little power, also after it backfired the cel went off as it was on before for 02 sensors and misfires, the next morning I turn it on and it runs fine I drive it through the neighborhood and it turns off while making a u-turn and when I turn it back on it cranks and runs half a second with a wobbly idle and dies, I thought it was a vacuum leak and checked and made sure all hoses are connected so I towed it home tired it a couple hours later and it turns on and stay running with the cel still off.
Hoping to be able to fix as I love the car but thinking about sell before another expensive fix

Welcome! Please post a photo of the CLK. Sounds like an electrical problem. Have you replaced the battery(ies)?

Thanks. What other modifications are on the vehicle?

Easy first step is to replace the main battery and auxiliary battery, if this vehicle has one. Then see how things behave.

Sounds a lot like a failing crankshaft position sensor.
