New CLK owner

Hey guys, I just bought a 1999 CLK430 Coupe Silver/Charcoal fully loaded minus the multicontour seats last friday. This car was a 5 year lease so it has ridiculously low miles (38,800) which I'm really happy about. It's my third benz but my other two were pretty old so i'm very excited but worried because i've heard the newer benz's have lots of electrical problems. Hopefully it will last me a while, hope to learn a lot from you guys!

Welcome to the board! Gotta warn you that you're gonna be spending a lot of money soon as you'll probably catch the mod bug from everything you see on here. ;0)

Question

haha yeah, i've been eyeing a couple of basics already like the chrome headlight rings, illuminated door sills, speakers and tint, but its going to be a while to save up for some big toys like wheels and suspension drop.

I got a couple of questions: The factory phone is an old motorola, the one before the startac i think, should i keep it, sell it, or what. i have an lg verizon phone but i have no idea how to hook it up to the car, i read some posts about buying a $600 V60 but i ain't gonna do that. Also my moonroof cover is off its track but the rail has a bracket which has broken off and the dealer said the rail is one piece and $425, anyone have any similar problems/solutions?

i hate how every single little sh*t is "one piece" and to fix a tiny broken section, you gotta buy a whole new assembly

I think new is a relative term and it depends if you are the sort of person that can wait till the next oil change or expect a fix 5 minutes after you find a problem.

I would say that checking fuses is one skill that doesnt hurt to learn. Most people think something is dead when all it needs is a new fuse.

Driving like a demon is a good way to discover how many weak spots your car has.

When they say " they dont make them like they used to " I think they meant the drivers and not the cars. I have seen 25 year old British cars that most people couldnt make last 5 years.

you cannot use that LG phone on the 208 clk. Wait for the UHI to come up from STeve. Do a search for UHI.
