EIS replaced - no crank
My EIS was faulty so I decided to purchase a used one and auto locksmiths coded the EIS to my car and also coded a new key to the EIS.
The EIS has been fitted to my CLK and the key can be turned to the ignition position (all electronics turn on. When you turn to crank,.the car does not crank at all.
in terms of troubleshooting:
Starter relay has been swapped with my W203 and confirmed as fine
Starter motor - we manually triggered this with a 12V source and confirmed as workiworking
Purple wire in right fuse box - this cable is meant to send power to starter motor when trying to crank with key. We checked with a multimeter and it's no getting any power during trying to crank
To me, it appears the EIS isn't sending a signal to crank. The auto locksmiths were unable to diagnose the ECU. They connected their equipment to the OBD but couldn't read anything from the ECU - they weren't using STAR will this make a difference? The auto locksmiths are saying the EIS may need to be synced to the car. Does this sound correct? Has anyone else here any thoughts about this?
Would having proper MB Star diagnostics help sync the EIS?
