Problem soft top
Hi there,
Since most of the issues posted about soft top problems are quite I thought it best to start a new thread. I hope that this is OK?I have a problem with the roof of my 2001 CLK 320 (W208) cab. Whilst lowering the roof I started to move forward, the beeping started so I stopped and continued to lower the roof. I tried to raise the roof but nothing responded. I raised the roof manually using the instructions in the handbook using the allen key and 10mm spanner.
To cut a long story short, I tried to reset the roof and after several attempts I got to the position where the trunk (boot) was locked and the soft top bow ( rear windscreen) was latched but not seated against the soft top compartment cover ( there is a half inch gap between the bow and the cover).
Despite WD 40 and a lot of twisting I have not been able to open the trunk manually with the key from the fob so I assume that the system reads the rear bow as still open, despite being latched.
Before getting to that point the roof had slammed over onto the front windscreen frame. It has always done this in the 15 years that I have owned it (And I have always had to push up the front bow to initiate opening).
The windows lowered as soon as the front of the roof is unlatched, but do not raise when I tried to close electronically. They do when operated from their individual switches.
The rear headrests/rollover bar are lowered but will not raise.
Can anyone suggest how I can open the trunk so that I can investigate the problem further?

Trotz WD 40 und viel Verdrehen konnte ich den Kofferraum nicht manuell mit dem Schlüssel vom Anhänger öffnen, daher gehe ich davon aus, dass das System den hinteren Bug trotz Verriegelung als noch offen liest.
Bevor das Dach erreicht war, war es auf den vorderen Windschutzscheibenrahmen geknallt. Das hat es in den 15 Jahren, in denen ich es besessen habe, immer getan (und ich musste immer den vorderen Bug nach oben drücken, um das Öffnen einzuleiten).
Die Fenster wurden abgesenkt, sobald die Vorderseite des Daches entriegelt ist, aber nicht angehoben, als ich versuchte, elektronisch zu schließen. Sie tun dies, wenn sie von ihren einzelnen Schaltern aus bedient werden.
Die hinteren Kopfstützen / Überrollbügel sind abgesenkt, heben sich jedoch nicht an.
Kann jemand vorschlagen, wie ich den Kofferraum öffnen kann, damit ich das Problem weiter untersuchen kann?
