Weird sound

Scraping and stopping problem
2000 CLK430
There is a scraping sound coming from the FL it gets worse the more the wheel is turned left and the brake pedal is spongy. The brake fluid reservoir is full. I think it is a seized caliper but do not want to throw parts and money at it.
Any help would be appreciated.
