Radio replacement suggestions
I have a 2008 CLK with 30K on it. It got caught in a15 minute downpour with the top down and the factory radio got messed up. It's now working ok but the plastic "cover" to cut down on the sunlight glare has started to peel off. I'm thinking it s time for a new radio. Looking at a Sony VAX7000 because of the anti glare screen. They're telling me because of the Harmon Kardon system that I have to replace the amp in order to keep using the rear seat bass speakers. I've had 2 suggestions. One is a Kenwood X802-5 and the other is an Alpine KTP-445U Power Pack.
I'm sure someone out there has replaced the factory setup. What have you put in? The Alpine guy said that the Kenwood may end up blowing out my original speakers after a while. I am not an audiophile. Looking for help/suggestions.
