New Battery; Car Shutdown
After many Google searches, I'm going to try and post something on here as I am desperate for help. Yesterday I replaced the dead battery in my 2005 CLK500. As soon as I put the new battery in and connected the terminals I used my key fob to lock and unlock the doors as a quick check to see whether or not it was working. I opened the door, put the key into the ignition and everything locked up. The key wouldn't turn, the steering wheel wouldn't turn and then I was no longer able to use the key fob to lock or unlock the doors. I currently have the car parked in my driveway with a tarp ratchet strapped over it so that rain wont get into the windows which are currently not rolled up.
Has anyone ever heard of this happening? Is it some kind of safety feature to prevent the car from being stolen?
Thanks in advance for any help that anyone can provide me. I'd prefer not to have it towed someplace if it's an easy fix.
