AMG
Some have reported that the CLK55 and RENNtech intakes are capable, but costly.

haters crazy
I had a Renntech intake on my clk430. The setup looks REAL nice because of the carbon fiber. It does sound a little better and it gives you more power. There are claims that the CLK55 intake is just as good performance wise but there hasn't been anything documented. Renntech is too expensive if you ask me.

Renntech intake is nothing more than a CLK55 intake with a c/f cover and the intake runners removed.RennTech's intake is way overpriced, the CLK55 intake is pretty reasonably priced.

Interesting idea, however if you are referring to taking the intake hoses and somehow extending them to the foglight holes, I would imagine that it would give inconsistent airflow and possible yeild worse effects. The idea is to get the coolest air possilble inside the intake, however to cleanest air as well.

It seems that by running it that low you would have to worry about water getting in there if you hit a puddle of any depth. I'm by no means a mechanic but that would be my first thought.

well i wouldnt be using the stock filters, i want to put two down there. I think they have a fitting that you put on the pipe so no water can get in.

well, you have a 430 i take it from your sig, the GruppeM one i was referring to is for the 320. HOWEVER, they do make ones for the 430, and 55 amg. You can see them here: http://www.gruppemeurope.com/frc_mercedes.html
Look like pretty good quality products, ben(mach430) told me about them
