Greetings from South Yorkshire. Question re. Sump bolts
Introducing myself (and my 2000W CLK Convertible 2.3 Kompressor Auto, 108k miles in Silver)
After years of playing with BMW’s I’ve just treated myself to a cheap and cheerful Spring/Summer project. £600 worth of CLK, all works but a transmission fluid leak when warm. Crawling underneath it looks like a previous owner has repaired a leaky sump gasket with a big blob of metal putty so I’ve ordered a gasket and a filter cos looking at this forum I’ve got the confidence to drain, clean and replace.
Question - Do you have to renew the transmission sump bolts (and if so, why ?) Thanks in anticipation. D.D.

I don't think so. There are loads of videos on how to change the transmission fluid and none mention replacing sump bolts. They are available on ebay for not very much. I managed to snap 3 bolts when I was taking my sump off. Very frustrating. However, this did not happen when I tried the same thing on a car in the scrappy.
