Best Scanner for 1999 CLK230

What is everyone's thoughts on what is the best Scanner for a 1999 Mercedes with a 38-pin socket?

Lots of advice out there, involving Windows XP laptops with Serial ports.

So far, it seems to be working. It's highlighted issues with the seat buckle tensioner. Off to have a good look at this.
