Creaking in the back?

Creaking in the back?
Whenever I go over a bump or hill of some kind where the back of the vehicle is not level with the front, I hear a strange creaking sound. It doesn't seem as though the noise is coming from inside the vehicle, I believe the sound is coming from somewhere near the wheels. Any ideas as to what this might be and what to do about it? Thanks.
