My CLK430's mirrors were stolen last night....
Damn I'm pissed- Woke up to a phone call from my neighbor saying my car had been vandalized. Two a$$holes manually broke off my side mirrors at 2:30 in the morning and ran off before any of us could even get outside.
Normally my car would be garaged, but yesterday it suffered a key gremlin and the damn thing won't start! I had to leave it parked in front of my house because apparently the key reads to a certain extent, but not when it comes to the final turn to start the engine . So yeah, I just blamed the theft on MB .
When I called my service advisor, he said I was the 4th person to call him about stolen mirrors TODAY.... People suck.

That sucks, man.
In Palo Alto there were theives stealing the mirrors off of M3s a while back - the detectives busted them by looking for people selling them on eBay.
I hate midnight parts @$$holes.

Thanks for the kind words guys...
Sounds crazy, but I was just thinking about how much I love my mirrors last week (yeah, I'm nuts). I almost never look over my shoulder because I trust my mirrors so much, and they never fail me. Now that they're gone, even going from the street to the garage is difficult.
This is what I get for having some of the most expensive mirrors available, I guess .
What really pisses me off is that I doubt they would have taken the time (since it was a VERY quick job) to cut my car cover if I had put it on.... It never occurred to me. I guess I was too much in shock from spending 3 hours stuck at the MINI dealership because my car got jealous and refused to start.

Mirrors
Extremely sorry to hear about your mirrors. I'm wondering if it is more a case of vandalism than a case of theft for profit. Vandalism is something I will never understand. I once had a BMW debadged in the middle of the night, and I just managed to get a look at the thieves as they drove off. In their own BMW!

Well, the estimate from MB is $1500 for two mirrors installed... that really sucks. I'm not even going to bother getting insurance involved, because I've got a $1000 deductable and I'll just deduct this from my taxes as loss due to theft. It all winds up costing me in the end, I just choose my payment method....
Keep in mind guys, according to several service advisors at Downtown LA Motors, stolen 'blinking' mirrors are being reported at a growing rate, and they're really not cheap. I'm sure most of you keep your cars garaged, but if not, a locked cover provides some protection- I wish I'd remembered to put mine on .
Ahmed- I already stole back my CLK430 badges from the back of a freakin' Ford Expedition- can you believe that? Thankfully I left some scratches worse than the ones he left on my trunk.

I just have to ask.
Newbie, what was your 430 badge doing on a Ford Expedition!?
Did the thief drive back to your neighborhood to show off how your badge looked on his Expedition? How did you find the thief's car?

Guys, I have NO idea why my badges were on that Expedition, except that the idiot who drives it is most likely the same idiot who stole the badges! It was a really beaten up Expy, filthy with stickers all over. I'm guessing it was just some dumb kid who jacked some Benz and put 'em on the car his parents gave him to look cool .
Update on the mirrors- Got my car back today, $1550 later, and now the mirrors don't look right! The bottom part isn't flush with the mirror body, and I'm not happy. Add this to the list of crap wrong with this POS. Can't wait to get rid of it. Any takers?
