First let me say I’m a newbie, both to the forum and to owning a MB. I have a 2003 CLK320 Cabriolet. I was told that while the 03 CLK Is a w209, the 03 Cabriolet is a w208, which is why I’m posting here. Please forgive me if I’m mistaken.
Recently it has developed an issue with accelerating… it seems that if I hit a bump just right the accelerator will start to hesitate…. Both from a complete stop and if I have to take my foot off the pedal and then reapply. When this happens I can usually turn the ignition off, restart the car, everything resets, and all is good… until the next time. Occasionally the check engine light will come on when this happens, but not always. My mechanic has never encountered this before. He has run the scan and it shows accelerator malfunction code(s), and something about the air / fuel ratios not being equal or equaling out… I’m not mechanically inclined at all.
we have replaced the throttle position sensor (with a used part). Everything was great for a while, then it started again. And, now turning the engine off and restarting doesn’t do anything… it hesitates pretty much anytime the accelerator pedal is pushed or reapplied.
anyone have any ideas what could be going on? We have a new sensor on order, but it’s not here yet. I know this probably sounds crazy, but…
TIA
Rick

Throttle Position sensor replaced with a new (not used/rebuilt) part. Accelerator did hesitate one time on first drive after replacement. Has not done it again since, so far. Now the slip/fault indicator light (triangle with exclamation point, yellow/orange) is on when ESP is on. It has come on before, but went off after engine was turned off and restarted… until now.
