Hi all, hoping someone here knows where I should be looking:
My 1999 CLK430, was working fine. But then all of a sudden the next time I go to start the car, nothing happens! I've done some searching, and lots of people will talk about the EIS, but I think my issue is happening before power even gets to the EIS. Luckily I'd left the car unlocked.
What works:
-Dash comes on when I open the door, and shows the mileage, etc.
-The headlights. Even beeps at me if I've left the door open.
-Interior lights, when I press the buttons
-Radio
-Hazard lights
What's not working: (everything else!)
-The keyfob won't unlock the key positions. There's no unlocking noise, can't turn the key to the engine-on position.
-Central locking doesn't work. Doesn't respond to keys. The buttons on the console to unlock the car or the boot do nothing.
-The power seats don't work.
-The power mirrors don't work.
-The power windows don't work.
I've checked the fuses both in the engine bay, and in the boot.
Neither of my 2 keys work. (Both regularly used.)
Anyone know what might be the issue?
'regards,
Simt

I believe you need to trace power supply is going to eis etc, the first place to check is passenger footwell, remove carpet and metal plate to expose where I think fusable links and battery wires are terminated. This area can suffer from trans oil coming up through the wiring. Hope this helps.
Hey,
thanks for that suggestion. Had no idea that was a place to look.
I've now checked all the relays. Unfortunately they're all good. So now I need to get more into trying to trace power. I've found a few electrical diagrams for the W208. Haven't thoroughly gone through them yet. Hoping to find a common point that makes sense for the systems that aren't working such as the central locking, and EIS.
