Gap spark plugs or no?
Ok so I'm helping my neighbor who has a 01 CLK320 convertible. He bought autolite iridium xp3924 spark plugs (12 of them). So at the store the salesman tells us to leave the spark plugs gap where it is and when I checked them most of them were at .044".
Is it true that we don't need to regap iridium plugs? I read on one of these forums that the gap for these models is supposed to be .039"-.040" So can anyone tell me what the correct plug gap he needs to use for this model?

The gap for a 01 CLK320 should be .39-.40"(1mm), as specified in the technical data section in the owners manual, as well from autolite's parts finder application for the XP3934, which you will find here .
The tightening torque specification is 15-22 ft.lb (20-30 Nm).
Your challenges will be pulling/installing the plug boots (e.g. without using the recommended 17mm wrench with off-set) as well as access to the rear plugs (e.g. without removing a section of the air intake and/or the windshield washer reservoir) . An alternative to torquing the plugs, would be the Bosch method (e.g.after snugging the plugs down followed by an additional 90 degree turn).

Ok so I am considering order the spark plug wires from the MB dealer closest to me for moms 01 clk320 coupe(non-convertible). The guy at the dealer said they are bosch plug wires that are oem. I read somewhere in a forum on this board that the plug wires if not mutilated from removal are good for the life of the car... Is that true in this case? I'm used to plug wires having a lifespan just as the plugs do.
