Mercnotworking........Given the ambiguity of what was presented in the OP's picture, your suggestion of the cabriolet's front latch assembly, was quite perceptive and savvy.

While there were numerous and challenging issues that needed to be worked through, prior to successfully repairing the soft top roof, by post #15, a malfunctioning front latch assembly was diagnosed, sourced and repaired.
