Different clicking noise
Hello,
The subject is a 2000, CLK320 convertible. I have a clicking sound that seems to be coming from the front right side, however there is nothing in that area to cause it. The clicking sound occurs when the car is moving, not when stopped. The sound also stops when turning (actually when causing side g-loads).
Because it only happens when in motion I have eliminated the classic Stepper Motor as the culprit. The front suspension all new, including brakes, bearings, etc, and with the weight off the wheels I am unable to reproduce the sound by turning the wheels by hand.
The drive shaft flex plates are where I’ll investigate next, but I’m interested in hearing from anyone with similar experiences.
