Does anyone know how to tap into the car's power at or near the mirror? I want to install a dash-cam behind my rear-view mirror but I want to avoid having to dangle a wire and plug it into the cigarette lighter.
I once had a BMW 5-series and, following some long-lost internet article, I was able to route power to a camera by using a wire-tap connector (AKA a vampire connector) on one of the wires that powered my garage door opener. I'm not quite electrically savvy enough to trust myself to do it with my 2001 CLK430 without instructions.
How is it done on a W208, or where I should be looking to find an article explaining it?

OMG I'm an idiot. I didn't search the internet before posting this. I'll do my own research.
Welp. Internet search turned out to be a little ambiguous, if not a dead end. Would appreciate any insight from the forum.

Hello,
I would pose question in the Audio & Electronics section.
