comand or karputer icepac?

im thinking of steering away from the comand unit.in light of recent events, and given todays multitude of in car technology i ask myself why follow traditional units that are proven, but .........boring!! comand it seems like anything german seems to stagnate in its past revelled glory and refuses to update and keep up with advancement of user friendly media systems.i saw this new system from a uk company and was amazed.it was like a breath of fresh air,i sound like a salesman but it looks fantastic.id appreciate anyones view on this as it will cost around the same price as one of steves retro fits(bearing in mind everything ill have to do to get it fitted)and ill get peace of mind.
views please..

Thanks for the advertisement. I am working on a solid state car-puter with no moving parts but with a touch screen and CANBUS interface to permit use of steering wheel. Since I have spare COMAND faces I can remove the original screen and install the new screen in its place and still keep the COMAND look without changing the look of the car or designing a new face.

Who said a broken COMAND was no good ?

Generic ICEPAC without canbus are a waste of time.

Like most good ideas you need to consider the legacy functions not just change for the sake of change.

Yeah Im looking at a custom board concept. I already have the base computer under control. They tell me that if I spend enough money I can be sent a complete original board that clicks into the motherboard and does what I desire.

Im looking at maps, music and security cameras driven by ram cards with no fans and no moving parts. Im also looking at "car-dock" a system that recognises your car when it is parked at home and runs on spare battery power to upload and download music and security footage including engine data and performance details over a wireless lan network.

Due to a special new service available in Australia I already have 1M bps broadband-on-the-move and unlimited voice phone calls from a car using Firefly clients. Using Freshtel accounts I can also activate global phone calls from 4 cents a minute.
