2005 CLK320 Cabriolet
Unhappy Stuck in limp mode :( HELP

Dear community, i found this blog while looking for answer to a problem i am currently having with my 2005 CLK320 convertible (gas). I got the car about a month ago with 105k miles. Before buying it i got it inspected and was in overall good condition EXCEPT for dozens of codes relating to CAN communications. However, despite all CAN codes saying that things here and there were faulty, everything worked here and there. The specialist that made the inspection told me that it was probably a faulty EIS, because of the dozen codes i was getting and nothing seemed to be actually faulty.

Anyways, 3 days ago i was coming back home, while on the freeway everything was working normally, after i took my exit from the freeway and came to a stop, i felt the car was very weak, although it moved i felt if was on 5th gear or something. i was able to pull over. Put the car in P, turn it off and back on, when i put it on D the car jumped into 1st(i guess) gear and wouldn't upshift. I then noted a check engine light and also i didn't have the "Letters" on my dashboard corresponding to where the lever was ( P,RN,D). The car drives but wont upshift, i can also put it on R but also jump into gear right away.

As i read that MB need a proper diagnostic tool to access all codes, i took the car to a garage close to me and they performed an inspection and ran an autologic report. During the inspection they found that there is a leak around the transmission pan, and other not so relevant findings (brakepads and rotors need replacement, battery too old). Regarding the autologic scan, they found a bunch of CAN codes (which i already knew were there) and the following codes from these modules:

EGS52(SERIAL) Electric transmission control (722.6EGS52)
-P2300 (Was already there)
- P2310
-P2311
-P2312
-P2313 (was already there)
-P2314 (was already there)
-P2315
-P2316

I read on this forum that transmission codes can appear when the trans plug adaptor or the conductor plate get damaged because of leaks, and that this can trigger the car into limp mode. However when i called the garage, they said that didnt think the transmission leak was important and that this was not causing the issue. They said they think is something related to the CAN communications codes (which maaaany of them were already there) and that now they need to take off the carpets and test every computer circuits to find the problem. They say this can be aroun 800 usd only for the inspection and that according to what the damaged component is repair costs may vary.

I come to you seeking for ideas, advise, suggestions and possible solutions about my problem. I also want to ask you if you think that starting by testing all the CAN circuits instead of checking for fluid within the adaptor plug or the conductor plate is the best way to proceed. In my not so experienced opinon, i see these car tend to have problems with the transmission adaptor plug and the conductor plate, so why not starting there? Would be wise to bring it home, get a new conductor plate kit and install it myself and see if this solves the problem first?

Thanks so much for any help! I feel kinda desperate because i would hate this problem to be something hard to diagnose that will most likely cost more than what i paid for the car
