2003 CLK 430 rear tire suggestions

Hello to all!

My son just got a 2011 E350 and I was so impressed with MB engineering and build that I went out and got my wife a 2003 CLK 430! It only has 45,643 miles on it and is in great shape!
Yes there are a few small things that need attention, but I learned a lot about a bit of everything pre-purchase here on MBWorld! You guys are great and knowledgeable! Can't wait to join the discussions!

To the tire questions - I have never had staggered rims or super hi-performance tires before, I have only had the standard 4-5 rib highway tread pattern. The current rear tires on the car are Michelin pilot 245/40/17 Z rated, as I understand it that is a standard OEM type tire. They have plenty of tread, but they REALLY sing at highway speeds, regardless of road type and I would like to get some suggestions on suitable replacements in the near future. We will not be hot-rodding or driving aggressively.

1. - What is the quietest tire for this car? Does that fat outboard tread cause road noise? Is it necessary for handling, safety and stability?

2. - I am all about MB recommended specs, however, can you move up in tire aspect ratio (from the 245/40's to either the 245/45 or 245/50 ) to get a taller sidewall for increased comfort without causing safety or monitoring issues, or causing a fender rub situation? and do they have to be Z rated or can you come down to a Q,S, or R?

Everybody loves pics so here are a couple -

The new baby - and yes those are clear original headlights!

Looking for QUIET tires. These have that wide outboard tread pattern.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Ty

Q1. I run 225 40 18 on a 18x8.5 et35 Front and 255 35 18 on 18x9.5 et35 rear.
Q2. Michelin p sports rubbers are good , and the yokos' too. I had Goodyear lowpros, and took them back about 2 weeks later.
Those are MY faves, but check out tirerack info on tires, and interweb. Nice find on your 430.

My wife was driving on Hi-way and rear tire blew.. Only had new tires installed for about 1 week. I returned and then purchased pilot sports.
