Today i went to open my trunk electronically with the key, and i couldn't get it to open after trying the button several times. I went inside the car and could not open the trunk using the release button. The only way i can open it is manually with the metal key. What is strange is that i can hear some sort of mechanism or motor running when i press the button on the key and console as if it were trying to latch on to something but not quite locking??? If anyone has experienced this let me know what needs to be done. Im going to take it in this weekend if it persists.

If the red light is lite on the inside release button try to adjust the trunk latch or the plastic around it. This happen to me when I took my rear bumper off.

Bottom line: Probably need to replace your trunk lock mechanism if the lower budget fixes (see above) don't work.

After I got rear ended, the same problem occured. The locks were sticky and the trunk sometimes did or did not open. I ended up getting the entire locking mechanism replaced as well as the little motor that creates the vacuum that controls the locks...no problems since then.
