Squeaky rear end (the car, not me)
2001 CLK 430 suspension squeaks like the dickens when it goes over any bump, or even when we get in/out of the car. Sounds like a rubber chicken being squeezed hard.
All sounds come from the rear. One shop said I need to replace a knuckle joint, $2000. Other shop gave it an alignment and the sound went away for several months, but it's back worse than before.
Is this a safety concern or just a nuisance?

It's probably one of the rubber bushings in the rear going out, sorry can't tell you which one, there are a few. If one is bad, the rest might follow soon. I re-did my entire suspension, wasnt cheap, time consuming for the ones i DIY, but car drives great.

I had a squeaky rear end so sprayed lots of silicone spray on bushes, also if you have a convertible you can put some anti-seize where the fasteners hold the diagonal bracing struts against the chassis. If you can get the rear end up on ramps or blocks so its in a normally loaded state and get someone to bounce the car you might at least narrow the offending item down.
