I was driving the other day and as I was braking towards a stop sign. The screen on my CLK comes up (VISIT SHOP!) ESP BRAKE!then something else ... and two of the yellow lights ESP on the left side of my dash comes on.
My car has 72k on it and was wondering does anyone know if this is a MAJOR BRAKE PROBLEM? or (I'm hoping) just a minor maybe needs to change brake pads prob? I'm asking because my car is out of warranty.

Many people have had this problem. The stop lamp switch goes bad often on these cars and it usually fixes the problem when you replace it. Shouldn't cost more than 20 bucks. Unfortunately that didnt fix my problem and I'm still trying to figure out what it is, good luck

 

I just had mine replaced today. Had the ABS, ESP and BAS lights coming on once in awhile out of nowhere. Hope this fixes the problem.
