CLK430 Burning Plastic smell from engine

Hey all--my 2001 CLK430 has sat for a few months--and now when I started driving it I'm noticing a strong burning plastic smell from a very specific part of the engine. It's wafting up from behind the engine on the passenger side. I've looked for plastic bags etc sucked up from the road, but can't see anything. Anyone experience this? (photo is stock image, my car is in the dark in the basement garage) thanks much for any leads

.

Are you sure it's not a fluid burning off of the engine or exhaust? can you see if it's leaking at all when parked or running? based on that area of the engine i'm not sure just how many thigs could be touching your heat shield or exhaust manifold so i'm not entirely sure what it might be

have you checked your fluids? how many mi?

Could be oil dropping on your manifold, by which can be valve covers. Remember, when you swap one side its best to both. GL
