CLK 320 Chrome wheels - AHH I need help lol

Hi y'all. I saw the chrome wheels from the early CLK on Craigslist for pretty cheap and had to scoop them up.

I have an 01. Both sets are 16x7.

I just got a call, the tires are mounted but the shop told me the lug nuts from my original wheels are too long. This is crazy. I haven't owned this car long enough to know that different lugs were made even for the same trim in the same generation. I've never heard of this. Are the lug seats the same? So maybe I just hit them with a cutting wheel? Kinda freaking out, really would like to replace these tires ASAP.

any help... TIA!!!

So, unless I'm wrong, the lugs that came on 01 and later(and maybe 00 or some 00) are normal lugs.

However the lugs below only have 19mm of thread, and I believe these come on the chrome wheels. Under 30 shipped isn't awful.. but god damn. Mercedes never fails to turn up goofy.

Gotta pay to play!

im entirely stuck on this issue still

I ordered lugs for this car specifically for the years it came with these wheels -- my year was not listed. These are for CLK 320 through 99, when they had the chrome wheels.

But they are still like 40mm with a 19mm thread, and from what I understand, these are too long.

It appears the CLK indeed came with shorter lugs with these wheels. It isn't that the threaded part is shorter, it's that the whole lugs are shorter.

if anyone could correct me if I am wrong, based on from a thread from 2004, I am seeing the correct lugs I likely need for my car are M12 1.5x21 with NO shaft before the threads?

AHHH. this is bogus. Gotta get my old tires off this car.

I have ordered these, which I believe to be standard spare tire lugs for Mercedes in the 80's and 90's. I wish I could try one out before ordering them, but my own spare doesn't have a different set of lugs.

So, call me crazy, but, if I was to get a flat, I don't think the spare tire would have fit with the lugs that came on my car. Which is totally insane, unless I am missing something...

I've got some more bodywork to do on this car and I just ordered some paint, but it's coming along. The lugs are specifically Mercedes spare wheel lugs. Wish there was more clarifying this from W208's of the past -- there were afterall, about 1/3 million of these cars made, cabriolets included. Anyway, these lugs are very short. Got them from AutohausAZ.
