Steering wheel compatibility?

Steering wheel compatibility?
Hi all
I'm new on here with my first ever Mercedes, a 2000 CLK 320 A208 convertible.
It has the black and ox blood interior, but I think the red wheel is a bit too much for me.
is a steering wheel for an A209 compatible with the A208?
I am aware the A209 has two airbag connections, while the A208 only has one.
Can the purple one just be left unplugged?
Are the connections of a different type?

I went and bought one last week and realised that it had two airbag connections, where mine only has one.
Seller refunded me and took it back again, mo problem.
I'll just have to be on the lookout for a black wheel and airbag for an A208.
