Timing Chain / Guide Questions
Questions:
1. Do I need to remove the valve covers to replace the guides?
2. I assume I need to cut the chain to replace the guides at a minimum. If the chain is in good condition, which it appears to be, should I just buy a pin for it? Or play it safe and replace the chain? Car is a 2001 CLK 430 with about 140,000 miles on it.
3. Is there anyway to replace the guide without removing the chain? Any creative ideas. Just trying to save some cash here.
The guide rail in question is the one in the picture below on the lower left hand side of the "V" assembly.
3. Is there a way to replace the guide without removing the chain?
