Would you sacrifice some low-end torque to gain more high-end power?

If so, you've chosen correctly. This modified intake manifold added 20hp (~10% gain) at top, with gains seen from 5200 rpms and higher. Torque was increased at 5200 as well by about 15lb-ft at peak. While power is sacrificed downlow (as with most manifold upgrades), the MB V8 motor clearly benefits from the increased air volume available. The result is better acceleration and a motor that really pulls at peak.

Defiinitely a good upgrade to do, as after pulleys, software and plug wires, there really isn't much left for under $2k.

Price: $650 plus core.

Ben,

I've got Evosport's hi-flow intake manifold, is the unit your referring to similar in design?

Richard,

You're up late! Yeah, it is simliar in design, so I'm sure you can vouch for it.

How's the car?

hmm, iono if losing around 10hp and 10tq across most of the rev range, (0-5200) is worth the extra at the end. Cause you are only gaining this power at the last 800rpm if it was from 4500 and up, i would be more interested. Any word on those new evosport headers?

It is worth it. The only time max power really matters is when the motor is under wide open throttle, in which it always maxes out the RPMS, and spends the most time up in them. Have you ever noticed how it takes longer to rev from 5-6k rpms than 4-5k, etc? Remember, under WOT, the motor does not drop down to 1500 rpm each time you enter a new gear, it starts at about 3500+. Thus, the amount of torque lost compared to the time and power gained in the higher rpms is minimal and worth it.
