The modding begins...CAI and SRX question

So, i've gotten to the point now where im starting to mod my car (finally). I have a pulley set on the way from Evosport (hoping that i dont have problems with that install). I also have a Passport SRX waiting around for installation (out of my old car). And I'm really wanting to fabricate a cold air intake setup.
My questions are these:
1) Has anyone ever seen an SRX on a CLK? My friend has one on his SLK, and it went in pretty well. I am just looking for fittament ideas, where to put the radar detector, lazer jammers, and console.
2) I took out the airbox today and looked around at Cold Air possibilities. I would like to do a TRUE cold air intake system with the filter down in the bumper. There is a gap in the engine compartment metal behind the passenger headlight that looks big enough to pass a 3" or 2 3/4" pipe though. Anyone ever seen this done? I've been looking at a Weapon R intake on ebay, but it has the intake filter in the engine compartment where it is still getting hot air. Anyone know pro's and con's to heatshielding this vs putting it down in the bumper?

Thanks, i'll post pics when i have it done.

Lemme know how you like that evosport pulley set when you get it installed. I notived they had a sale for the holidays. I'm not really familiar with the engine bay of a 320 but I do know you have alot more dead air space in there to move the intake further away from the exhaust manifold. Cons to heat shielding is having to fabricate the shielding and finding placement in the engine compartment as well as getting hotter air in the intake than you would than if you had run the intake down by the bumper. HP gains however of running it one way versus the other are going to be pretty minimal. A dyno test of both systems might reveal that you might get an ever so slight higher HP number somewhere along the RPM curve (not along the entire curve) with the system running to the bumper but it'd never be a difference that would give you the "seat of the pants fell" you probably want.
