Hey all,

Found a 2nd owner family owned 2001 Mercedes CLK 430 Coupe (non convertible). It has 85k miles on it. Seller claims good condition and maintenance. Says there are a couple cosmetic issues like paint chips here and there and a button that needs to be reattached. He’s selling it for $2500. No accidents. No check engine light. Clean title. I drove it today and it drives great, I might get wheel alignment soon if I buy it. What should I expect experience and maintenance wise? Carfax indicates average annual mileage of around 4k miles. Any advice will be appreciated. First time buying a car and just want something fun and sporty that runs me the next 3-4 years.

• Brakes & Suspension: Front brake pads and rotors replaced ; steering damper replaced ; lower ball joints replaced ; steering knuckles replaced ; and brake light switch replaced.
  
• Electrical & Body: Battery/charging system checked and battery replaced ; right front window regulator replaced ; door trim panel repaired ; wipers replaced ; tail light assembly and bulbs replaced ; license plate light bulb replaced ; and instrument cluster checked.

I'd be asking myself why it is being sold so cheap.
Also, front end alignment leaves a bit to be desired as "toe" is the only adjustment to be made.

 

You’ll need to replace the engine and transmission mounts. Fairly easy to do in the garage with standard tools for $250 in parts.

 

Read the articles on this site, rag14. You will get a good idea of what you are letting yourself in for.
Some parts and trim, are very hard to find (UK) and other countries.You will spend a lot of time on
e.bay and scrap yard sites, looking for parts.Be prepared to shell out eye watering money, for second
hand parts.No longer available from Mercedes. I have got a 2001 W208 CLK 200 Cabriolet.Good luck..

 

Sad but true!

 

Get it! $2500.00 is a steal with 85k on the dail. Most of the maintenance has been completed, and only needs minor fixes..Do you have any pics of car/interior?
