2001 W208-OEM battery vs Costco
I'm sure this has been asked/answered, but I could not find much. I have a 2001 CLK-320 cabriolet that sits far too much. Current battery is OEM, but no longer charging well. A trickle charger gets about halfway there and then errors. The trunk light hten drains the battery and I start all over. So...new battery time. Local dealer wants $262 for OEM battery, but could not even give me any specs (like CCA). My current failing OEM battery sticker says part# "000-982-33-08".
Costco has an Interstate Group Size H8 (49) AGM, 36 month Limited Warranty, CCA 900, CA 100, for $180. Is this OK and recommended?
My car is older and doesn't have the newer battery monitoring circuitry, so I'm assuming all I have to do is correctly install the new battery, do the windows down for 5-secs, steering wheel side to side, and I'm good.

If your trickle charger has a 12V setting (my Noco 1A does), you can leave it connected while swapping batteries and your settings will remain intact. Any H8 battery is acceptable, but you usually get what you pay for. Go with a brand that has a 36 or48 month warranty.
