Hello
New member here.
I have a 2002 clk320 convertible. The sound system has the original bowes speaker, cd changer, etc.
Would like to upgrade the stereo so I have bluetooth from phone without altering the dash as I would like to keep it as original as possible.
Primary concern is that I would like to listen to music from phone, not concerned about speaking on phone as top is almost always down.
If you want to keep your stereo stock there was an option by https://www.beckerautosound.com/ in new jersey to add an upgrade to Bluetooth to your head unit but would entail you to sending it in for that modification. They can also get your code for the stereo and make you a card.
the other option was the continental stereo
there has also been posts on another site under the thread "Becker, Continental or other?" where they have a picture of how the continental unit looks as well as a blaupunkt.
I recommend using that shop for upgrading the OG headunit. I had them install BT on my 99 CLK 430 about three years ago, and never looked back! I think the cost was about grand total $165-175.00 (shipping/upgrade).
It may be a bit more now, but worth it. GL

Hola,
A jack 3.5)

.I have a Fiio BTR3K amplifier plugged into the aux jack (3.5mm jack to 3.5mm jack).
That same Fiio is plugged in via USB-C to the cigarette lighter socket (USB-C as well), with the cable running behind the glove box to the lighter (a small hole has to be made).
Using the app, you set the Fiio to "Car Mode: ON." Then, in your phone's routines, set it to connect to this Fiio as soon as it detects its Bluetooth.
It will only work when you start the car and turn off when you disconnect it, making you forget about the Fiio's battery forever.
You can also disable the hands-free function on the Fiio since it sounds bad, being in the glove box. You can set that function to only work on the phone.
If you have any questions, I'll be happy to explain further."
If you don't want to mess with taking your radio out and are okay with loosing your cigarette lighter there are bluetooth FM transmitters that lets you link to your phone and radio through FM radio waves. the downside is if another person is also on their radio and same frequency they can hear what you are playing very unlikely in this day and age as who listens to the radio cause everyone has adopted spotify / downloads their own music. they come with a USB port either type B or type C depending on the version you get. they can also still accept calls. there are allot of choices in styles and designs so you can pick one that fits your use case. you may need to adjust your frequency usually its on default frequency like 88.8 so you may need to change this as that may be used by a radio station. then you would find the same frequency chosen on your stock radio to listen. If your voice command works and can understand you when you say play so and so music it should work. I had one of these before i changed the radio to a sony XAV-AX4000 unit because I wanted navigation.
I got a double DIN from Walmart and then picked up a blue tooth dongle. It looks really nice at fits well. Cost less than $100, but I have the stock subwoofer in the back and had to wire the switch wire in the wiring harness to get that to turn on. It wasn't hard, and integrates well, just that one small thing you'll have to watch for. I have NOT gotten the steering wheel controls to integrate, but want to get that working in the future.
