Door stopper thingy broken?
A few days ago the driver side door on my 1999 CLK 430 started snapping really loud when opening and closing. I thought it was due to something needed greasing or so, so I waited until today to investigate.
It seems like the "door stopper thing" located just inside the door has broken. Here are some pics so you understand what part I'm talking about:

Hard location to place a camera, therefore not very focused...
Anyway, I wonder if this is something I could solve myself?
I guess all that is needed is to take the door panels off, then unscrew the screws visible in image 2 & 3 and replace the part. But how do I get the door panels off? I see no screws or anything holding them in place.
If anyone had any similar problem, I'd very much appreciate your comments!
Cheers,
Martin

MBWorld Fanatic!
i never heard anything myself, but, my advisor said "that" piece was popping differently from the way it "should" sound. Then, he just had it changed...
I believe it is a common thing. Maybe if you take it to the dealership, they might do some goodwill service.

Ok thanks for the information. I doubt the dealership will do anything about it, I imported this vehicle myself from Germany to Sweden.
The dealership here is also insanely expensive and frankly doesn't know much about cars. Fortunately I have a good independent shop contact...
But anyway, does anyone know how to remove the front door panels?
