Should I buy this CLK?

Hello ladies and gents,

This is my first post here as you can see however I am an active clublexus member. I am looking to buy my first benz as I was a strictly lexus guy before. It is a CLK430. The price is right but the mileage is high ( around 85K)
The price is well below book and it has an extended warranty that included everything except common wear and tear items. (24 months unl. mileage). It is a 99',SILVER, amg package (wheels and skirts).
So what do you guys think?

Thanks in advance.

Oh i almost forgot.
It will have new tires and it has a custom CL style grill with the large star.
I wanted to know..do the cool projector style headlights that you can buy for the E class fit this car?

good price, but if i were you , i would look for 2000 and up, coz you can get the newer functional steering wheel , and instrument cluster.

get the 2000+ if you don't plan on modding your head unit or you plan on getting a command... but if you wanna do something cooler like a custom setup... forget about the steering wheel functions, they won't work.

2000+ is cool cause of the blinking side view lights. other than that... the '99 is cool

alrite guys im picking it up the end of next week..thanks for your input but i couldnt justify the extra cash for the 2000+ model years since a buddy of mine owns a car audio shop and most likely ill go custom. I cant wait. Is there anything I should check before driving the car off the lot to have replaced etc? TIA

check warranty. '98 and '99 are known to have problems with the cat converter at around 60k-80k. make sure you have a warranty to cover that or else expect to pay 1800$+ to replace and install.

i asked djamer about this and this is what he wrote back

"If i started the car, it sounded okay. In the park position.. press the accelerator..warming it up, it sounded like a loose material underneathe the car scraping the ground or similar to it. Driving the car, the sound got worse.. at highway speeds, it died down, but between 20mph - 45mph the sound is very noticable. If you hear something like rattling, then i bet it's the converter. "

hope that helps

honestly thats a great deal and if u were in the NE region I would seriously be considering ur car. I dunno about the whole cross country shipping etc. though.

The deal with the silver one fell thru. Major complications with the guy as he was an a-hole. Right now trying on a 01' black/ black. The price is obviously higher but suprisingly not by much. and the mileage is even a lil less. Ill update you guys but hey good tings take time..
