Wheel Bearing replacement?

Well, in my journey for the ever elusive soultion to the front wheel "scutter", "trammel" and camber issues, I stumbled across an MB mechanic that says I need new front wheel bearings.

I searched, but could not find proper information. What are these and can I do them myslef or do I need s shop to properly torque them?

you need to remove the rotors to access the wheel bearings (i think)...

eh, sounds like a pain. BUt if they say they are out, then I guess they are out. Is this a common problem with the CLK's? I only have 60K miles.

actually... when i went to get my AMG brakes put on (around 33k miles), the tech said that one of my wheel bearing were not in the best possible condition... while its not in a bad enough condition to warrant changing, he just pointed it out to me....

I did the front wheel bearins on my 99 cabrio clk last summer. Keep in mind it only had 25k on it at the time. U can usually tighten out a little play by removing the bearing cap and undoing the 6mm allen key and tightening the race adjustment a smidge until it dissapears. BUt if they are noisy and scracthy feeling when u turn the wheel, just replace them.

There is an inner and outer bearing, and when u replace them u need to destroy the oil seal so u need one of those 2..

I bought them from my local mechanic and it was 44 dollars per side (2 bearings and oil seal).

If you can change ur brake pads u can do this, just remove the rotor and the whole spindle hub comes right off in one piece.
