A good story and a few questions
I have been lurking around here for a few months and, after seeing that no one had any major nightmare stories about installing aftermarket suspension kits on their cars, I decided to jump in.
I bought the Lorinser Suspension Kit for my '01 CLK430 Coupe through my dealer and they were to install it. After two days of waiting, I eagerly went to pick my car up. At first sight, I instantly new something was wrong: the ride height had increased!
I took the car home and started investigating. Long story short (minus the hand mirror and paper reading the numbers off of the parts on my back in the garage), the parts that were installed were for a Cabriolet! Add to the fact that the factory shims had been re-installed.
Luckily the dealer here in Dallas (Ewing Autohaus) is awesome and they are going to fix it on Wed. I never imagined that the parts distributor would ship the wrong parts. I think the final story is that Lorinser packaged the parts wrong, so beware!
Now for my questions:
I found a post here somewhere recommended the thinnest shims (9 and 5mm I think, is this correct?
Are there any other tips that anyone might have so I can avoid having my car dismantled for a third time?
Does anyone know where to find clear side markers and tail lamp lens covers?
Thank in advance for you answers and thanks for all of the great posts!

Out Of Control!!
I don't know about clear markers, but I have pre painted ones.
I think this looks better than clear side markers, it blends but still shows the blinker at night. If you turn the lights inwards, it looks as if there is no light.

The thinnest shim available is for 5mm, but the dealer's manual will list a #1 shim for a 208 CLK as a 9mm, which will be the #2 pad used in the E-Class. All CLKs use the E Class 210's spring pads. If you want it to go the lowest, use the #1 (1 bump) shim from the current E-Class.
1 bump
front 210-321-0184 (5mm)
rear 210-325-0184 (5mm)
2 bump
front 210-321-0284 (9mm)
rear 210-325-0284 (9mm)
Hope this helps!!!!
