WTF Sunroof wont close fully during rain but works fine dry???

Has this ever happened to anyone? My sunroof works fine in all directions when it is completely dry out. When rain starts it won't close fully. .Twice I had to look like a ******* driving home with a garbage bag over my sunroof.

Problems and more problems

I have troubles when it sits in the sun and bakes. I've tried to grease tracks..push it back and forth. Dealership said that I need to take liner off to see where it is binding. Not going there and put up with inconvenience now and then. I would suggest that you keep the little crank to manually close the roof if it happens again in the rain

Try Lubing your track. That might help. Open it up and take a look at the track, and the mechanisms. Try closing it with the Key Fob while looking in there to make sure nothing is loose, getting caught, etc.

I tried using the key that the dealer gave me with no luck it was harder then a rock to turn!!

I still have a years worth of starmarked warranty .So I guess I'm gonna have to do service b also before they void any type of warranty on this car.But $660 for b service(wtf)?

I don't know if this works on the 99's, but if you press and hold the (unlock) button for more that 2 seconds the windows and moonroof will open. If you hold down the (lock) button for more than 2 seconds the opposite will happen and the windows and moonroof will close... Try that...

If you have a year left on warranty...have them fix it. If they won't do adjustments, keep working it until the motor burns out and then they will have to replace it.

My sunroof is retarded as well. Sometimes it just won't close all the way and when that happens, the button commands are all messed up. Close turns into open, open is now tilt, tilt turns into close....aye, frustrating.

I usually find that turning off the car then turning it back on helps. Or sometimes when it is closing, help pull it closed with your hand and it should pass the part where it gets hung up. I'm going to try some grease, I've also heard that a little on there helps.

I have done the same. After it went out of warranty the dealer still tried to grease it etc for FREE! No luck..that's when he got a mechanic and said that they bind somewhere back where you have to access it by taking off roof liner. Not sure that you want to get into that. I now do the help it along trick as you do.
