hi there,
well, i was just at the dealership today... and i only have further rumors to spread. sorry... but no definitive answer...
i was told last time (a month or 2 ago) by my sales guy that the new clk will have a hardtop cabrio... no more soft tops. i didn't think much of it as i wasn't interested at the time.
this time, i asked him if he was sure. he emphatically said, "yes."
"how do you know?"
"we know."
"does it say somewhere that the cabrio will be a hardtop?"
"no. but notice that the color for the cabrio's roof has no choices. that means it will be body colored, which means a hard top." he shows me the order form, but it doesn't say anything about the color - i assume you need to be on the computer system to further see that info. "and mercedes is dropping Karmann as the cabrio maker. all the convertibles will be done by mercedes." i don't know of the veracity of that statement. maybe someone else can confirm that karmann is being dropped?
"will it have the panoramic roof?"
"no. b/c of the lack of the b-pillar, and it is too big an area."
"what about the SL? it has the panoramic vario roof?"
"it's smaller."
"ok..." but it is still unsubstantiated.
just saying what he told me and he seems to really believe it. i also asked when it would be arriving. he said, "august/september for the clk coupe. april for the cabrio."
