OK so I went over to Germany and picked up a Comand unit (with 203 in its product code) to install in my second W209 CLK.

All is well - it powers up and after changing language to English from german it plays CD's tunes in radio and can be controlled from sterring wheel - nice. BUT when I insert the NAVI CD of UK it sits FOREVER (actually 7 hours now!!) on the message 'ACTIVATING NAVIGATION - PLEASE WAIT'.

I have gone to diagnostics (via MUTE 1 and 3 buttons) and checked under INFOS where I find that the GPS SAT shows 0 - I know that really should be showing at least 4 or 5 sats

So I got hold of another Antenna - yes I know have two antennas and still no change.

My question is - am I beginning to realize that the SAT\NAV side of this unit is dead - if so can it be repaired? Any idea of cost? Or am I just doing soemthing wrong?

Any help would be ace.

 

shanus haold fire mate I have the same info on my comand sometimes is the nav disc in the unit have u tried moving the car around

I must admit I havnt moved the car at all cause before I ripped out all the centre console etc I wanted to test the unit first so the unit has never been properly fitted in! Saying that though I installed a Cammand 2 on the other CLK and had no probs what so ever - the disc read and went thorugh the initial setup questions etc. But this one just site forever on the 'activating navigation' message - never goes at all. The only thing I will say is that the NAVI Cd is a copy - although I have used my Europe CD and the same happens there. Im gonna get a Car Battery and bench test the unit tommorow now - im also gonna do the MY01 update when I finally get hold of teh update ISO or CD and then try and find my origanal Navi CD - I guess that will answer soem questions for me!

2 New 12 inch JL audios 12w3v2 subs
Puddle Lights
New Yoko's on my 18's (which are back on now)

Future mod's:
Rear head rest screens
Body Kit
AMG exhaust/ maybe custom made RSR visit
Bi-xenons or HID's

When the warranty is up maybe some engine mod's but that wouldnt be for atleast another year and a half. (might change next year)

I know a while back u bought a unit form baybrooks i might have to ask them if they can help with this damm tv tuner are they alright?

I'm still looking into the headliner mod i'll let u know of any update once i have one
