Although I'm still seriously disappointed. I was told that my 22k mile 2003 CLK55, which is quite honestly flawless, was "worth" $39000. While I know that you won't get the substantial price difference, or even half of that, between the CLK500 and CLK55 back in resale, I would have thought that having a 55 would get you at least a few grand over a 500. It's surprising, as the CLK is a relatively rare car, and it's actually pretty reliable as it's had few issues compared to the rest of the MB line-up.
Anymore, while I'm still bummed by the abysmal resale of the CLK, you won't see me giving away my car anytime soon. As I have mentioned in previous threads, for whatever reason, it seems that the automotive industry and the auto enthusiast public have given up on the CLK waaaay too quickly. It's been my experience that most people just aren't familiar with the car, and those that see mine are always remaking about how much nicer it is then they thought.
The CLK's have to be one of the most under-rated cars in the market...
Best regards,
Matt

it really is underrated, its a great car and everyone thinks its built crappy bec other benz owners have serious problems, its a fact that clks have not had these types of problems with the electrical items, only some minor stuff like transmission or a sunroof not working properly (seems minor compared to some horror stories we have heard on this board)

i agree the resale prices have not been that great, but it's also due to the reliability.
MB will produce as many of these CLKs as they can sell. in addition, MB (and Porsche/BMWs) have been skimping on the quality of its interiors now for the past decade. it used to be "special" to own an MB coupe - and now it's everywhere. i recently looked at several CLK430 cabs and CLK55's, and frankly, the interior materials were a real turn-off to me. in fact, even the way the way the door shuts for the 2006 SL500 and SL55's are very "cheap sounding/feeling."
i think MB's realizing it though, and they're starting to improve for the future models. one evidence is that the interior of the new E and S class are both drastically better than prior versions.
just my $.02 worth.
