Do I need to lower a CLK 500 for 19" wheels...

I'm picking up my CLK500 in two weeks.

I'm pretty set on putting on 19" Brabus replicas ( Monet Impressionisms)...

Has anyone put these wheels on or seen them on a CLK500?

Does the car need to be lowered or does it look "right" with the normal stock ride height?

Thanks.

By the...the going price for a new 05 CLK500 is socal is Invoice minus $4000...not bad.

well...

to compliment the 19's a drop would be neccessary... if you didn't drop it, you'd have quite a gap that would be noticable... although your ride quality won't be sacrificed if you decide not to drop it.

How much is a good amount to drop it?

Anyone have any suggestions on what to use (springs or shocks)
and what a typical install would run?

How about the sport suspension option for the CLK500?
Would that lower it enough?

Would the ride quality suck with 19's?

Maybe I should go with 18's...

H&R is the best bang for the buck, affordable yet effective. That's what I'll be using with my new 19" AMG's... as for the shocks, I might stay with the factory shocks, but if need be, ill switch with Bilstiens. 18's is a much more comfortable ride, however 19's isnt much of a difference. If you want appearance and wow factor, go with 19's but if you want to look good but also have a comfortable drive, go with 18's.

I have 18s (AMG double spoke), Brabus springs & shocks. Let me tell you that the ride is much stiffer than stock. I would not recommend 19s. Also, if money is not a problem, do springs and shocks. I think you'll get the worst ride ever if you install 19s and springs only. Good luck!

maybe I'll just do the wheels in 18". This is a lease...so I don't want to change too much.

So...18" running on stock springs and shocks.
Should be good enuff yea?

Well, in terms of wheels, I think there's a good reason why AMG chose to install 18s and not 19s on the CLK55.

As for the height, it's your call. When i first installed the 18s, my springs and shocks were stock. I drove it for a couple of months and got tired of the look and handling. The car will not look bad with 18s only but it'll look twice as good when you lower it.

Regards,
