2005 CLK 500 cab
Service "A" inquiry
My 05 CLK 500 cab is up for it's first Service "A" (actualy 5 days overdue - ya, I'm a bad Mom ). I called the dealership this morning to make an appointment and they told me that starting with the 2005 models, all services were now at the cost of the customer, that none will be covered under warranty anymore. And to top that off, service "A" is $260 bucks! feh!
Anyone run into service "A" woes yet for their 05 models? Is this price set for every dealership or should I "shop" around for a better price.
The price I pay for toys, sheesh!
Not to mention when Service "B" rolls around - they quoted me at $480

2005 E500 / 1993 MR2 Turbo
Thats correct, for all 2005 mercedes', service interval are at the cost of the customers compared to the 2004 models where schedule services was covered by the dealer. It kind of breaks even though, I have a 2005 E500 and did not pay a gas guzzler tax. Everyone who purchased this car in 2004 paid a gas guzzler tax, I think it was about 1200 bucks. For the 2004 models, schedule maintenance is only covered for the warranty period of the car (4 years or 48,000 miles). Now if you consider the 2005 models, the service is averaging about 300 bucks a year. Over four years thats 1200 bucks, almost even, because we didn't pay a gas tax on our models.
I just took my car in for a Service B, 11,300 miles 8 months old. $330. So the service advisor now says I'm good in terms of maintenance until next year.

Thanks for the info jameson75, I guess we did get off lucky not paying the gaz guzzler tax - I had completely forgot about that. I'm surprised you are at your service "B" mark with your car being only 8 months. I purchased my CLK 500 back in August of 04 and it is just now rolling to the service A mark (August 1st will be 1yr exactly with just under 9k miles). Your service B price is well under what my dealership quoted me as, I may just call around and see who can give me a better deal.
Thanks again!
Thanks again!

01' CLK 320
I know it is unfair to 2005 owners..... my mom has a W208 CLK 320 and we have to pay every time for the service coz there is no free maintenance in Canada.

2004 Silver CLK500
Just got Service B done today on my 2004 CLK500 today. The final bill was a cool $570 Canadian Dollars. I think the price is a little steep, but I was also impressed with attention to detail given by mechanic. In addition to checking out the noise coming from Catalytic Converter (kind of a scraping sound), he called me at least four times on my cellphone to let me know of the headlamps washer problem, as well as letting me know that they would be late by two hours getting car back to me. Turned out they will have to replace the noisy part of the converter at a later date since they didn't have it in stock. The service all in all was excellent

I didn't follow this forum closely for the last few weeks therefore I completely missed your post Mis3. If you still happen to follow this thread, the dealership was in Markham (at Kennedy and Highway 7).

just got my service B done to my 03' clk500 at 17000 miles. got it done free but i didnt realize they were gonna charge me for re-adjusting my headlights ($30) funny thing is my car's headlights were a little off when i first got the car but i just told now to do it. oh well its only 30 bucks. but they did give me a new console for my moonroof becuz it wasnt doing the one touch close and they replaced my passenger side seat belt. for some reason now my car smells new

well the bad thing is the first service A has to be done either one year after manufacture or the first 13k miles, which means technically you can buy the car today and get the service A done in couple months. I have about 5000 miles on the car and I have to go in for a service A in a week.
