Damn. A built-in radar detector woulda been huge. My dad's Lexus SC430 has a built-in radar scrambler.. but I guess I'll have to get a detector on my own. Is parktronic standard? If not - what do they do with that space if you don't opt for parktronic?

Cool

Yes, Parktronic, option in all MB models.
and it's the indicator of the "front side", the "rear side" you'll find another set(embeded with rear seat lumination) and watch it thru rearview mirror.
Distronic device located right behind the tri-star mark on the grill,
So those W209 with 219 option, the tri-star mark is covered by
plastic instead of "empty"
user_interface is at the left side of the gear shift knob.

Yes, a friend on mine has one installed on his m5. He has a detector in the front behind his grill, and another in the rear. he has a scrambler too, but i forget where that's mounted. His install was somewhere around $1,200.

Also, I've seen Valentine1 installs where the display is embedded in the rear-view mirror. I'm sure someone here can post a pic.

Called a K40

You can get a radar installed inside the dash. there would be a few lights located by your Spedometer. One for front and one for rear. You can turn it off on on with a hidden switch under the steering wheel. I use to have this in my old 3000GT. Very cool. Would offer all bands and jammers. cost about 1200$ to install and takes about 6 hours. Some mercedes dealerships offer it.
