Transmission Hesitation and Hard Lockup
I have an '05 CLK 320 with a little under 1,700 miles that I drive in comfort mode and in the mornings I let it idle until about 60 degress cent. Then I pull out of the drive way and proceed down the road which is all stop signs. After each stop, the car hesitates, followed by a loud click, then a very hard lock of the transmission. This continues for about five miles unless I let the car start rolling after the stop and then hit the gas (and no I am not hitting the gas hard, this is a residential area). Does anyone know potential issues or does the same thing happen to your car?

2005 CLK500
Same thing happens every morning with my 500. The car is driven on C-mode at all times. When i get close to a stop sign, the car pulls backwards with a kick (rough downshifting). I'm fine once the engine is warm though.
Guess it's normal.

Why are you guy's using C mode...C mose used to be winter mode, 2nd gear starts etc. MB's do have firmer and high rpm 1-2 shifting when cold to help heat up the cats, but it's not supposed to be too firm.

And....
what did the dealer say when you had the car serviced for this abnormal beahavior? I don't need to own your model to tell you it's not normal but I have the same drive train. And correct, don't ever let your car sit idling to warm up - not necessary and in fact harms your car and the environment. Whether you use C mode or not you shouldn't have those problems. What's with all the excuses about why it might be happening? It's not normal.
