brake pads from dealership?

i brought my car into the dealership to get moonroof and passenger side seat belt fixed and they told me that i needed new tires and new brake pads.
i have pireilli p zero rosso 225 45 17 and for both the front tires they wanna charge me $490 including mount and balance. sounds like a rip to me.
for frontbrake pad change they wanna charge me $250. Is that too expensive?
btw i only have 16800 miles on my clk500 and they say i already need brake pads in the front.
lady was also like i should order new rims for front at $600 a piece cuz they a little bent. no way im spending that much for stock rims.

Check with tirerack.com to see if the prices are fair. I think $490 is ok for two tires, because my dealer tried to charge me $350 a piece plus mounting and balancing. The brake pad price isn't too bad either, I couldn't find a set online cheaper than what my dealer was charging. As for the rims, if you have collision coverage with your insurance, you can claim it. I bent my two front ones, too.

yea i decided to not get the tires thru stealership. but i am going to get the brakes done by them since i trust the dealership more than outside mechanics. I probably end up saving little doing that anyways.
im just surprised i need to change the brakes at 16K miles, not like i brake hard.
as far as the rims go, going thru insurance might be an idea. i wonder how much its gonna raise my insurance though.

If you do a lot of city driving I don't think thats too bad. I have 23,5000 miles on the car and will need to have the brakers replaced soon, but those are mostly highway miles. You don't really need to change anything until the brake light comes on, and even then you still have some time before you need to change it. As for the rims, the claim didn't raise my insurance at all (I have Geico), but that might be a concern for you. If you decide to buy them and not file a claim, tirerack.com also sells the wheels cheaper than the dealer.

Changing pads is pretty easy to do - regardless of who does the work, you might want to consider getting non-OEM pads that designed to produce less dust.

No, unless the dealer changed them without telling me, I'm still on the original pads at 49k miles.

Front brake pads

Hi Folks;
I did my own on a 03 CLK 5.5AMG. The job was easly, But I would recommend. to find somebody. Who is Familiar with MB brake systems.. At that mileage , they my want too also replace the Rotors. , if they don't meet specs. or tore up . I used EBC green pads , Part # DP21363. They work great for me. Very Little Dust . They are about $160.00 for the fronts , from Tire Rack.

I also just installed some SLK 5.5 AMG wheels on my CLK 5.5. I have the old wheels . Dual spoke AMG , bright silver color ,they're in great shape. Only 12000. miles on them. There staggered. no curb rash. Not Bent hit . I sell you all 4 for $800.00 plus shipping

Predator:
We are having a small Cat #1 Hurricane down here ,but I was able to snap off these pictures/ I took close ups of the small stone chips. It may Kill the sale . but rather ,be up front , an you might not find them unbearable. I took close ups so they actually, look worse than they really are. Also have the muffler off this car. The Amg muffler sounds a little throatyier. If your are interested.
