Hey guys, ive been looking around and found that powerchip makes a chip for our cars. They claim a 27 hp increase to 331, and 30 lbs or torque to 369. Do you guys think that this is worth $990, and also does anyone have this done/ what do you think of it?

hey guys there has been much discussion about chips already i used speedtuningusa to tune my 99 e300 turbo diesel with great sucess very easy process and only cost me $275. It had a claimed increase of 40 or so and the chip added every bit of it as it now drives like my e320. They offer a chip for our cars that claim around 21 hp. Some people around here had a group buy organized where as you call speedtuningusa and talk to oliver about the mercedes group buy. there website is speedtuningusa hope this helps. I have also been loking into the upgrade for the clk please post sucess or failure if anyone gets one thanks

$990, i just talked to my service advisor and he said it really wasnt worth it. He said that they make you send your ecu to them, they flash it and send it back to you. The gains really are there, but theres only one problem. If your car has anytype of engine problem, and they need to flash the ecu to correct it, guess what? Yeah thats right you loose the 990. So i guess this isnt that great after all.

Those numbers are better than the chips they did for my E55 and CLK430. The peak power gains might not be very much in terms of HP/$ spent but the amount of mid range torque they add makes the car really wake up in daily driving.

ebay auction heres how i got mine they were very friendly and said they would reflash the chip for the shipping fee if the dealer messed with it. A+ all the way
