Thumbs up The ultimate compliment

I was sitting outside at a power smoothie store enjoying my drink waiting for my girlfriend to meet me there, my car was parked close by (just detailed) with all the windows down when an attractive middle aged blonde pulls up in a nice previous generation 7 series and parks, as she is walking toward the store on her cell phone, she stops and looks at my car and says to the person on the phone "wow what a gorgueous looking car", there is a slight pause and she then says looking at the rear of the car "it's a CLK 500 and its black with a creme leather interior", she walks around the side of the car while checking out the interior and comments again on how nice the car is, then as she walks into the store she takes one last look back. She made my day without even knowing it .

I keep my seats covered with stone colored towels and the mats with clear plastic ones; it really helps a lot. You can try a leather cleaner and if that does not work try using some rubbing alcohol on a terry towel in a hidden area to see if it works. If all else fails have the dealership recommend the company they use to touch up/respray leather.

LOL...no pics of the blonde, she was older but attractive; the girlfriend is a little hottie and she'd kill me if I put her pic on the net.

Sorry to burst your bubble but how shallow can anyone be to comment that how a stranger looks, what they drive, or their comments on your ride compliment you on your decision to buy a car that anyone can buy. Just feeling contrary, but honest. I believe that people that buy cars for what other people will think of them are losers.

I think you are looking at it in the wrong perspective.
You can buy the car for what you like, it's just re-affirmation. Nothing wrong with receiving compliments

Wow that came out of left field! Ricky A. is right; you took this way out of perspective or didn't read it right. The women was complementing the car not me, I wasn't even sitting in the car but outside at the smoothie shop within ear shot of her phone conversation and I thought I'd share this totally innocent and unsolicited compliment on the 209 with other 209 owners to make them feel good about their car choices too. Many of people have said they don't like the 209 as much as the 208 but I bought it anyway (actually owned two of them 03 and 04). No where did I say or even infer my car purchasing decisions were based on anyone else's thoughts or opinions and yes we all know anyone with +/- $55,000.00 can buy a new CLK 500.

I took what happened as a compliment to our cars. I didn't buy this car for anyone but me. In fact, sometimes I don't drive it because i don't want people to ride in my car.

If anyone can buy it, where's yours?? Looks like you're mad because you can't have one :p

Sorry, you're right, I did. I think it was the unnecessary "when an attractive middle aged blonde pulls up in a nice previous generation 7 series" comment. If the person was old, plain, and driving a Pinto wouldn't it still be a re-affirmation? Somehow I sensed a bit of social climbing brought on by a car purchase. Just personal commentary. And I like the 209 way better than the 208....which I didn't buy because of its' looks and poor rear vision. Now a 350 209 is a different story.

Nothing was unnecessary, added or left out, I simply commented on the facts and exact details as they actually happened. It doesn't matter what kind of car the person is driving or who they are to accept a compliment (at least for me), but the nicer the car the person is driving, only helps to enhance the level of the compliment ie; if a person driving a new CL55 comments how much they like the CLK 500 I'd say that's a pretty strong compliment especially coming from a person driving such an awesome machine.

Glad you like the W209 way better than the 208, I'm sure all of the 209 owners here appreciate the compliment.
